How to measure Backlight, we take the measurement from glass end to glass end, not including the wires or solder connections

If you cannot take the LCD apart in most new LCD's you can measure the lamp you need with a ruler by placing it along the horizontal edge of the lcd.
You will need to measure the length in mm measured from the bottom left of the panel to the bottom right of the panel see picture
Do not add the steel frame of the LCD to your measurement we need the exact area in the black area only.

Yes if your lcd panel is dim or black but showing faint data we would be pleased to repair the Brightness problem for you.

We prefer if you can take out the LCD and mail only the panel for a professional refit and repair and test, purchases of backlights are for professionals who now how to fit correctly, if fit by a novice the lcd panel may show lines or blocks of bad data, or hissing noise from badly soldered joints at the lamp connections. Warning high voltage is applied to the CCFL to create light inside the lcd housing.

In most laptop LCD housings the Backlight lamp can be found horizontally inside the bottom lcd area
but some lcds have the lamp fitted vertically along the side like the older 10.4 displays
if your are not certain as to the correct lamp to purchase for your LCD send us the panel for a professional refit and test
