Yes if your lcd panel is dim or black but showing faint data we would be pleased to repair the Brightness problem for you.

We prefer if you can take out the LCD and mail only the panel for a professional refit and repair and test, purchases of backlights are for professionals who now how to fit correctly, if fit by a novice the lcd panel may show lines or blocks of bad data, or hissing noise from badly soldered joints at the lamp connections. Warning high voltage is applied to the CCFL to create light inside the lcd housing.

Is there a difference between the CCFL lamp and a backlight assembly?

My assumption is that an assembly is more plug and play while a lamp requires more disassembly soldering and new silicon end caps / then assembly. I found one assembly for the Inspiron 4100 on the web but it's out of stock. Do you carry the full assembly?

Well yes we only mail out new lamps although for free if you wish I can accept the complete LCD reflector assembly from any customer and solder and fit a new backlight for you tested and mail it back to you at the same cost of just the new Backlight lamp.

CCFL,s can run at lower operating voltages, and can be 300 volts higher or 300 volts lower than specified.
