Your backlight may be bad but it also could be the Inverter at fault not the lamp/BACKLIGHT, do this test and email me back

Measure the ac volts on the output of the inverter by taking out the white 2 pin {normally pink and white wires}
backlight interface connector BHSR-02VS-1 plug-> Backlight plug.jpg (4810 bytes) With a ac voltmeter that can safely accept above 3K volts.
or take a small screwdriver (1 mm shank) with insulated plastic handle and hold the steel tip of the screwdriver .3mm away from the + pin <-pink side pin) on the inverter output doing this while powering on, with obviously no LCD plugged into the inverter output plug, when powering up the inverter PCB will attempt to send about 1500volts ac high frequency into the 2 prong output socket, at that moment you should see a small arcing of electricity jumping the air into the screwdriver. If you cannot detect this effect the inverter is bad, (but be aware the inverter will only send 3 bursts of power out and expect a feedback signal. If none is present, it will go into self protect mode and turn itself off, just like your TV set does if it senses anything is wrong and you hear the ticking sound inside the set.

LCD disassembly hints
1. Remove the screw covers from the front bezel of the LCD display. If this is a apple G4 titanium you will be wiser to mail.

 2. Remove the screws. Once the bottom screws are removed, try not to fold the cover open or
 closed as the stiffness of the LCD assembly has now been weakened.

 3. Once the screws have been removed, gently unclip the front LCD bezel in a clockwise
 manner, starting from the lower left, (a), (b), (c), (d), (e), (f) and (g).

Warning do not tug on the data connector {left of letter a in red} as some customers have torn it pulling screen out of cradle or taking the housing apart to fast

 4. Once the bezel has been removed, disconnect the (a) LCD data cable and (b) Backlight cable from
 the actual LCD display. be careful not to press on any Anisotropic conductive film (the tape connecting the glass to the printed circuit boards)

Be extremely careful with Hitachi LCD's, if not you will easily DAMAGE it.Be aware the lamp may have shattered into shards of glass inside the LCD.
